COMMIT YOURSELF TO BECOMING A REAL ESTATE INVESTOR

January 7th, 2009 . by Eric Martin

Two things you will need to be successful in any new career: Knowledge and Experience. My course entitled “100% Financing When Buying Real Estate” will give you the former, the latter will come fairly quickly and continue to increase over time. It all boils down to making a conscious and whole-hearted commitment to learning everything you can about investing in real estate, and then actually applying the principles of a real estate investor.

The fact that you are reading this real estate oriented text material, indicates that you’re at least halfway there. You are gaining knowledge. Now you should also be looking to acquire some “OJT” (on-the-job training). The very first time you shop for and eventually purchase a parcel of real estate, you’ll begin to accumulate experience; but is there a way to get OJT without actually having to purchase anything?

There are a few ways to do this. One way is to “tag along” with another real estate investor who agrees to let you observe him or her in action. This doesn’t mean you have to haunt or shadow that person, but you could, for example, sit in on a real estate closing or accompany him or her while presenting an offer to purchase. You may not even have to do that much if the person will record the session (with everyone’s permission of course) or at least take good notes and review them with you later. But perhaps the most comfortable type of OJT for all parties concerned is attending additional seminars and workshops given by experts in the real estate field. Also, you should join one or more real estate investment clubs and/or groups. I would suggest you contact the American Association of Real Estate Investors, which has its national office located in Tucker, Georgia.

After you graduate from this course in 100% Financing When Buying Real Estate! you should count on attending other seminars and “refresher” courses in the future to enhance your expertise. The most successful people in the field of real estate never stop going to school or attending classes. They also read everyone else’s books, listen to everyone’s C/Ds, and view everyone else’s DVDs on the subject of real estate investing. This is something you should plan on doing too.

But one of the most important commitments you can make right now to launching this whole new career in real estate investing is the “time commitment.” If you are determined to succeed(and nothing but determination to succeed will ever guarantee your success) at this new career, you must first be determined to allow sufficient time to pursue it. Reading this text material, attending this course, paying attention to the other instructional media, and doing the legwork necessary to graduate as a real estate investor takes time and a great deal of effort. And time is the one commodity you may not have much of, and yet allocating some of it is paramount to your ultimate success. You cannot be successful at something you never do and/or practice.

So, be sure to budget at least the minimum amount of time it will take you to complete this text and actually make your first real estate investment. If you start with only a minimum amount of time and become at least minimally successful, you may soon come to realize that devoting a maximum amount of time is what’s required to become maximally successful. Do yo want it all or only some of it? This is strictly up to you, but to do either one you will have to devote at least some time. Do yourself a favor and devote as much of it as you can. And you can make that commitment right now!
